Services for Maurice C. Cooper, Jr, 60 of Palestine will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Montague officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Herrington Land of Memory Funeral Home. Mr. Cooper died Monday at his home after a brief illness.
A native of Palestine, he was born on July 4, 1931, to Maurice Carlton and Mary Isabel Scafers Cooper. He had lived in Palestine all his life, and worked for 43 years in the Union Pacific Railroad car shops. He was a member of the Railroad Carmen Union. During the Korean War, he served in the Army.
He is survived by his parents of Palestine, his wife, Zelda Bailey Cooper of Palestine; son, John Carroll of Jacksonville; daughter, Elaine Torma of Palestine and three grandchildren.
