Services for Burma Bert Dean, 83, of Palestine, TX, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Butch Lockard officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.Mr. Dean died Thursday at Palestine Health Care.
He was born Feb. 4, 1923 in Palestine to John Lee Bert and Ruby Fletcher Dean. Mr. Dean was an agriculture teacher for Westwood High School. He received his master’s degree in teaching from Sam Houston State University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Baptist. Mr. Dean served as a board member of Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas, and a board member of the Trinity Valley Teachers Credit Union. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Dean is survived by his wife, Letha Dean of Palestine; daughters, Sherrie Bell and husband Rodger of Palestine, Sue Ellis and husband Chris of Belton, Merri Dean of Palestine; sons, Gary Dean and wife Sara of Tyler, Kerry Dean and wife Karen of College Station; a brother, Willard Dean of Palestine; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dustin Eyman, Brian Eyman, Gary Dean, Kerry Dean, Troy Watkins and Roger Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodger Bell and Chris Ellis. Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster, Palestine. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Michael J.
