Funeral services for Thelma Mildred “Tut” Toole, 91, of Palestine will be at 2 pm Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery.
Mrs. Toole died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Anderson County to Herbert and Maggie Huffman Poole. She was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Toole never met a stranger and always had a beautiful smile on her face. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luke Toole in December 1982; brothers, Willard Poole and Claude Poole; and sisters, Mary Callaway, Annie Recknor, and Audrey Harris.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Toole and wife Jan, Harry Toole, and Dennis Toole and wife Tina; daughter, Deborah Howard and husband Don; brother-in-law, Jot Harris; sister, June Woolverton all of Palestine; 9 grandchildren, Jenifer Johnson, Jason Toole, Kiska Starling, Michlyn Ervin, Andy Toole, Shelly Butler, Angelia Ray, Lauren Jimenez, and Alex Howard; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Toole, Eddie Harris, Jeff Harris, Mark Woolverton, Jim Woolverton, and Ben Poole.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
