She is survived by her son, Robert O’Bannon; brother C.R. Broughton.

Freddie graduated from Texas Christian University in 1957. While at TCU, she was head majorette and an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She also met future husband, Jimmie, while attending TCU. A natural athlete, Freddie played very high caliber tennis, took up golf later in life and became an accomplished player, carrying a low teen handicap. She was among the original members at Bent Tree Country Club and was active in the Dallas Women’s Golf Association. She was also a Master Bridge player
