Services for James “Jimmy” Richard Ray, 34, of Palestine will be at 4 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster chapel with the Revs. Ray Biggerstaff and Lynn Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Ray died Friday evening at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 13, 1956 in Anderson County, a son of James F. Ray and Molly Jo Reed Ray. He was a graduate of Palestine High School and a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church. He worked for his father as a dealer at James F. Ray New & Used Cars.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.E. Ray, Rosa Lee Ray and Joe Reed, and by a niece, Christy Michelle Ray.

He is survived by his parents; a step-mother, Joann Ray of Palestine; a grandmother, Mrs. Joe Reed of Palestine; two sons, Aaron Ray and Adam Ray, both of Palestine; two sisters, Rebecca Mitchell of Houston and Vickie Lynn Ray of Palestine; an uncle, Dick Reed of Palestine; two aunts, LaQuita Reeder of Palestine and Bennye Rice of Mesquite; and two nieces.

Pallbearers will be Billy Webb, Gary Calcote, Mike Herod, Mark Mitchell, Eddie Ray, Vard Evans, Jack Allen, Curt Copeland and Freddie Reed.
