Memorial services for Kenneth “Smitty” Smith, 70 of Tyler, will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Burkett officiating.

Mr. Smith passed away, Monday, June 19, 2006 in Tyler.

He was born October 16, 1935 in Vivian, Louisiana to mother, Dalton (McClendon) Smith and father, Birdette Smith.  He lived in Palestine before moving to Tyler in 1963.

Kenneth was a charter member of the Memorial Christian Church of Palestine for many years.  He enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler for many leagues across Tyler.  Kenneth also was a member of the Tyler Roses Square Dancing Club and spent many hours racing go-carts with family and friends.

Smitty graduated from Palestine High School in 1954 and attended Nixon Business College also in Palestine.  He was in charge of sales at George P. Bane for many years and ended his career at Bennett Equipment.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Birdette Smith in 1970 and brother, Terrell Smith in 2002.

Kenneth was survived by his loving family including his daughter, Keena Brooks of Tyler; son, Dennis Smith and Lybnda Harker of Tyler; Sister, Donna Hale and husband Lloyd of Bullard; brother, Robert Smith of Tyler; brother, Ronnie Smith and wife Cindy of Waco,; granddaughter, Brittany Smith of Tyler,; grandson, Jake Brooks of Tyler, grandson, Cody Smith of Tyler, and sister-in-law, Nanci Smith of austin.
