Lonnie was the son of Lonnie Melvin and Lucy Chapman Long.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was married to Arlene and was residing near Palestine, Texas at the time of his death in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Burial was in Roselawn Park Cemetery, Palestine
