Services for Joe Johnson, 55 of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bois d’Arc Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Drinkard and Bud Magee officiating.  Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson died Monday at Memorial Hopsital. He was born in Anderson County on Jan. 18, 1940, to Acey Morris and Ila Marie Brasfield Johnson.  He was a rancher. Mr. Johnson graduated from Palestine High School in 1958 and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville.  He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Houston.

He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Carolyn Johnson of Houston; son, Thomas Scott Johnson of Broussard, LA; sisters, Betty Wardell of Montalba and Sandy Soriero of Houston and brothers, Bob Johnson of Houston and Jim Johnson of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, Jason Johnson, Justin Johnson, Gerald Morris, Sr., Gerald Morris Jr., Don Forester, Claude Clements, Billy Rackel and Mike Pickle.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
