Word has been received here that a former Palestine man, Tony Lee England, a member of the U.S. Air Force’s Strategic Air Command, has been killed in action in Vietnam.
England is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. England of Pittsburg, Texas. The Englands formerly lived here and have many friends in the city.
The serviceman attended school in the Palestine Independent School District and was an athlete at Palestine High School during the early 1950’s. He also attended Tyler Junior College.

As a member of the Air Force Reserve, “Cider” FAC Captain England served our country until March 21st, 1967 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. He was 32 years old and was married. Tonie died when his plane crashed into the land. His body was recovered. Tonie was born on July 14th, 1934 in Palestine, Texas.
Captain England is on panel 17E, line 002 of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 12 years.
