Dixie Copeland of Amelia, Louisiana died May 27, 1997 in a Thibodaux, Louisiana hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Palestine on January 6, 1932 to John Birrel and Maude Gray Bernard.

Dixie attended Palestine High School and Nixon Business College. She married her high school sweetheart, Roger Kennerly Copeland in 1951.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nadine Boatwright; and a brother, J.B. Bernard.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; a daughter, Vickie Copeland; sister-in-law Margie Bernard; nephew, Mike Bernard; and nieces, Paula Trigg, and Donna Honeycutt.

All who knew and loved Dixie will always remember her big, wonderful, infectious laughter.
