Services for Joseph “Jerry” F. Andrews, 68, of Palestine, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with son Bruce Andrews and Danny Sidders officiating.
Burial will follow at Palestine City Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mr. Andrews died Sunday at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born November 24, 1932 in Palestine.
Mr. Andrews graduated from Palestine High School in 1951 and was a graduate of Texas A&M University at Commerce with a master’s degree in math and science.
He had lived in Palestine for the past 29 years. He was a retired teacher having taught at many schools throughout Anderson County. He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his father, William Allen Andrews.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Zell Campbell Lasyone of Palestine; wife, Mary Maude Andrews of Palestine; sons, Bruce Andrews and Albert Andrews, both of Palestine; daughters, Mary Jo Carpenter of Santa Clarita, California, and Abbie Gail Janz of Murrieta, California; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clyce Marshall, David Hickman, Fred Smith, Mark Watson and grandsons Brian Andres and Blake Andrews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Heartman and Melvin Parkerson Sr.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
