Don Selden 1950

A memorial service for Don Selden, 73, of Austin, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cook Walden Chapel in the Hills, Austin.
Mr. Selden died Wednesday in Austin.
He was born July 1, 1932, in Palestine to J. K. Selden and Elizabeth Sivia Selden.
Mr. Selden was a 1950 graduate of Palestine High School. He attended Southern Methodist University as a music major and served on the staff of the SMU music department.
He was a talented and accomplished percussionist and was a percussionist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Civic Opera, as well as playing with many small jazz groups in the Dallas area. He also owned and operated several fast food restaurants in central Texas.
Mr. Selden was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Virginia.
He is survived by a son, Don Selden; a daughter, Karen Selden Quirk and her husband, Marc, of South Carolina; his brothers, Dr. Larry Selden and his wife, Peggy, of San Antonio, and Jack Selden and his wife, Gloria, of Palestine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
