Services for Mac Johnson, 74, of Montalba, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Cary Ponder and Dr. Stephen Holcombe officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday in Tyler.
He was born September 8, 1931 in Houston to Lester David Johnson and Exeula Fannie McLure Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a member and deacon of Southside Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a former Westwood I.S.D. Trustee and a former member of the appraisal board of ACAD. Before retiring, he had been a safety instructor with Halliburton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Brian Johnson; a sister Christine Johnson Goolsby; and three brothers: L.A. Johnson, Leland S. Johnson, and Travis W. Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 52 years Patsy Massey Johnson of Montalba; daughters: Donna Mayville and husband Jean of Palestine and Susan Baldree and husband George of Palestine; son Steve Johnson and wife Margi of Bryan; brother Bobby Johnson of Palestine; and nine grandchildren: Anthony, Lorrie, Joshua, Cameron, Ashley, Tyler, Holli, Pete and Dylan.
Pallbearers will be Herbert Trussell, T.W. Congleton, Gene Coker, Howard Woods, Dennis Butler, and Billy Tidwell.
Condolence calls will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
