Our beloved and courageous Mother, Dorothy Churchman Hinson, has gone to be with her Heavenly Father on May 2, 2004, at the age of 71. Married to John Franklin Hinson, Sr. who predeceased her in 1964, and son-in-law, Michael J. Vacek, who predeceased her in 2000, she is survived by her three children, Terri Hinson Green, Jona Hinson Vacek of Frisco, Texas, and John Frankin Hinson Jr., and his wife, Kelle Hinson of Gunter, Texas. The pride and joy of her life were her three grandsons, Kyle Nelson Green and John Austin Green, of Frisco, Colton John Hinson of Gunter and granddaughter, J’Lynn Marie Vacek of Frisco.

Dorothy was one of 11 children born to the late Allean and Ralph Churchman on August 2, 1932. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert William Churchman, and sisters, Imogene Davis, Pearlean Brown and Bonnie Jo Parker. She is survived by three brothers, Carl C. Churchman, Fred Churchman and Tommie Churchman; three sisters, Vertie Dee Kiser, Margie Nell Miller and Roxie Lee McCarty, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Dorothy was a life-long resident of Palestine and graduated from both Palestine High School and Palestine Business College. After graduation, she began her professional career working for the late Henry Latimer Jordan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palestine and participated in various civil and social circles during her lifetime.

In recognition of her influence, contribution and inspiration to education, the Dorothy C. Hinson Educational Scholarship Fund will be established. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the fund in her honor at c/o 10800 Belle Chasse, Frisco, Texas 75035.

Pallbearers will be Samuel “Bo” Henry, Kenneth Wayne Miller, Danny Churchman, Dennis Ray McCarty, Jason Kiser and grandson, Kyle Nelson Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonas Kiser, Ralph Mack, Randy Mack and Tony Ray McCarty.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Interment will be in the family cemetery in Tennessee Colony, Texas.
