Services for Joyce Brooks Ray, 57, of Palestine, were this morning at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Biggerstaff and Roger Marsh officiating. Burial was at Roselawn Park.

Mrs. Ray died Wednesday in Baylor Hospital in Dallas.

She was born April 6, 1931, in Anderson County, a daughter of Howard E. and Mossie B. Congleton Brooks. She was a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church and Palestine Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her father and a granddaughter, Christie Michelle Ray.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Ray, of Palestine; sons, Eddie Ray, Glenn Ray and Rodney Ray, all of Palestine, and Jimmy W. Ray of Houston; mother, Mossie Brooks of Palestine; sisters, Nelda Russell and Patsy Rasberry, both of Palestine, and Mary Beth Rogers of Alexandria, La.; brothers, Carlton Brooks and Elmer Brooks both of Palestine; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Billy Webb, A.B. Calcote, Gene Russell, Rod Ellenburg, George Trezise, George Veteto, Dee Johnson, Ben Starr, Pon Tackett, Vernon Patton, Dr. Curtis Jordan and Dr. Lee Roy Mathis.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 823, Palestine, 75801.
