Murphy Quinn Manley, 24, of Palestine died at 2:25 a.m. today in a local hospital following an illness of several months.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with Rev. William J. Hodge officiating.  Burial will be in Palestine.  The body will be at Hassell & Foster Funeral Home until after chapel rites.

Mr. Manley was born September 23, 1947 in Palestine to Q.D. (David) Manley, Jr. and Dorothy Davis Manley.  He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and a 1965 graduate of Palestine High School.  He attended Henderson County Junior College, Athens, and was a graduate of Gupton Jones Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science.  A former employee of Hassell & Foster here, he also worked for Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens, Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home of Tyler and Keever Funeral Home of Ennis.

Survivors in addition to his parents include, grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Q.D. Manley, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Strode V. Davis; great-grandmother, Mrs. Letha Ann Davis, all of Palestine; brother, Strode David Manley of Houston; sister Mrs. Johnnie W. (April Gayle) Ogden of Shreveport; two nieces, Leslie Noel Ogden and Myka Lynn Ogden, both of Shreveport; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Bert Cade, Logan Hafner, Ed Cordell, Jack Tisdale, Leon Presley and Royce D’Arcy.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Foundation For The Blind, % Ed Cordell, Royal National Bank.
