Services for Robert C. “Hoot” Gibson, 67, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Harberson officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Park.

Mr. Gibson died Thursday morning (May 18th, 1995) at Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Palestine on January 10, 1928 to Robert Virgel and Olive Tull Gibson.

He was retired from Windham School System and had coached in Palestine (1969-1980), Lubbock, Royce City, Talco and Fort Worth school districts.

He was a graduatae of Palestine High School and earaned his Master’s Degree from East Texas State University. He also attended Texas Christian University and Henderson County Junior College.

Mr. Gibson was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Goode Gibson of Palestine; his parents of Palestine; sons David Earl Gibson of Hoisington, Kansas and Thomas Randall Gibson of Austin; Sister, Doris June Cook of Marietta, GA; brother, Thurman Earl Gibson of Palestine and three grandchildren.

Pallbears will be family members and members of Mr. Gibson’s Sunday School Class at Westwood United Methodist Church.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 P.M. to 7 P. M. today at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Westwood United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
