Services for Murvil R. Lipsey Jr., 79, Broaddus, formerly of Palestine, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marshall Windsor officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood City Cemetery.

Mr. Lipsey died June 2, 2007, at his residence.  He was born April 22, 1928, in Palestine. He graduated from Sam Houston University, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1984 after 29 years of employment with Amoco Production Co.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Fay Casey Lipsey, in 2005, and brothers, Garland “Buck” Lipsey and Joe Lipsey.

Survivors include his sons, Murvil Lipsey III, Alvin, Douglas J. Lipsey, The Woodlands; sister, Mary Kate Derrington, Palestine; three grandchildren; and one stepgranddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Murvil R. Lipsey III, Douglas J. Lipsey, Joe Lipsey, Garland Ray Lipsey, Michael Derrington and Col. Jay O. Brewer.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Michael Kennedy, Brent Boswell and Robert Judice.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
