Services for Harold “Woody” Woodard Jr., 53, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Dub Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Woodard died Saturday at his home in Palestine.
He was born July 7, 1946, in Palestine, to Harold and Josephine McDonald Woodard.
Mr. Woodard graduated from Palestine High School in 1964 and from Baylor University in 1969. He served in the U.S. Air Force then worked for Texas Instruments and the City of Plano for seven years. He worked for Palestine Contractors as a foreman and in public relations until his death.
Mr. Woodard was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a former Rotarian. He was named recipient of the Booster of the Year Award of the Wildcat Booster Club in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Anne Glass.
Mr. Woodard is survived by his wife, Angela Woodard of Palestine; mother, Josephine Woodard of Palestine; sons, Theodore Stuart Woodard of Nacogdoches and Samuel Harold Woodard of Palestine; daughters, Abbey Jeffus of Palestine and Amanda Anne Woodard of Dallas; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Jim Steadman, Johnny Johnston, Larry Davis, John Berry, Mack McDonald, Rick Taylor, Larry Harris and Roy Wallace Golson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult 4 Men’s Sunday School Class at Southside Baptist Church and the men of Palestine High School Class of 1964.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Southside Baptist Church.
