Services for Amon Lee Lightfoot, 47, of Palestine will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Andress officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Lightfoot died Wednesday at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.
He was born November 17, 1944 in Anderson County to Amon Cleo and Jettie Bess Hurbough Lightfoot.
Mr. Lightfoot was a retired locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad with 23 years of service, a member of the Locomotive Engineers Association and an active member of Southside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Lightfoot of Palestine; his parents, of Palestine; a daughter, Lisa Linette Lightfoot of Houston; a son, Amon DeWayne Lightfoot of Palestine; a sister, Betty Whitfield of Palestine; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Spencer, Ronnie Elliott, Murray Herrington, Danny Glenn, Steve Torma, Raben Bolton, Joe Weaver, Clyde Wise, Bill Magee and members of the Adult IV Sunday School Class at Southside Baptist Church.
Condolence calls will be received at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Southside Baptist Church building fund in Mr. Lightfoot’s name.
