John Durant Petty -1962

John D. Petty, 32, a native of Palestine died Monday night in Texas City at the age of 32.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Hassell & Foster.

Mr. Petty was born in Palestine on February 22, 1944, son of W.H. (Hardy) Petty and Bernice Thorpe Petty.

A graduate of Palestine High School, he attended Tyler Junior College and for the past 13 years had resided in Texas City, maintaining his home at 2302 19th Avenue N. He had been employed for the past ten years as a pipefitter for the Marathon Oil Company.

Mr. Petty is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Ann Till Petty of Texas City; daughter, Miss Jenny Lynn Petty and son, John Kevin Petty, both of Texas City; mother, Mrs. Bernice Thorpe Petty of Pasadena; father, W.H. (Hardy) Petty, Palestine; sister, Mrs. Jimmy (Joy Lee) Higham of Pasadena; grandparents, Mrs. Leola Thorpe Price and Mrs. Bessie Petty, both of Palestine.

Mr. Petty was also a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Nick (Cleola) Nemer, Mrs. J.D. (Gladys) Haynes, Harry L. Thorpe, Mrs. Johnnie Worley Rainey and Durant Worley, all of Palestine.
