Joe Carroll Nation, 62, of Ballinger passed away Monday, February 19, 2007, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

Mr. Nation was born April 25, 1944, in Palestine, Texas, to Joel Chambers “J.C.” and Lula Franklin Nation.

He married Harriet Moser April 9, 1971, in Palestine and attended several Texas colleges and universities, achieving a master’s degree in education. Devoting his life to the education of children, he was employed with various Texas school districts for 33 years, including five years at Coleman as junior high school principal and curriculum director. He was curriculum director with Ballinger Independent School District and retired as assistant superintendent in 1999.

He was a member of 7th Street Baptist Church and Ballinger Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet; by his son, Kyle of Richland Hills; and by a brother, David Nation, and wife Corrinna of Lake Worth.

Visitation for family and friends was Monday, Feb. 19, at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ballinger with the Rev. David Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Building Fund of 7th Street Baptist Church, P.O. Box 663, Ballinger, Texas 76821.
