Miss Mavis Elaine Blount, 19, sophomore student at Stephen F. Austin State College died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the Medical Center Hospital in Tyler, after a short illness.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.O. Blount of Palestine.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Grace Methodist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Derwin Walker, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in New Addition Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George McIntyre, LeRoy Griffith, Murphy Douglas, Robert Marshman, Dave Vance, and Jack Dagley.
Native of Palestine, Miss Blount graduated from Palestine High School in 1962. She had pledged Kappa Delta Pi national scholastic honorary and was a member of Fidelis social sorority on the SFA campus.
Survivors besides her parents are two sisters, Mrs. Jacqueline Tankersley of Houston, and Misss Donna Lynn Blount, and a brother, Michael Wayne Blount, both of Palestine and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Blount of Flint and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nerren of Lufkin.
