Services for Nelwyn Morris Mitchell, 57, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jery Neill officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mitchell died Friday night at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born August 7, 1943 in Galveston to R.E. and Wanda Bunn Morris.

Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Palestine High School in 1961. She was secretary for 37 years with Texas Utilities and retired from there in 1999. At the time of her death, she was employed as a secretary for East Texas National Bank.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by daughter, Leah Mitchell Clark of Edmond, Oklahoma; son, Jay Mitchell of Palestine; sister, Beth Martin of Conroe; brothers, Lt. Col. (retired) Mike Morris of Palestine and Paul Morris of Atlanta, Georgia; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bill Brown, Larry Womack, Jim Hines, Mike Murphy, Bobby Huddleston and Henry Link.
