Services for Jerry Gale Gatewood, 44, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel, with the Revs. Theo Johnson and Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will be at Rock Church Cemetery near Blackfoot.

Mr. Gatewood died Thursday morning from injuries sustained in a truck accident in Uvalde.

He was born March 13, 1943, in Montalba, a son of Jim and Dolly Mae Beaseley Gatewood. He had lived in Anderson County all his life and had been employed by Wal-Mart as a truck driver for the past six years.

He was a Baptist and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907.

Survivors include a son, Darren Wayne Gatewood, of Palestine; brothers, Charles Gatewood of Balch Springs, Chester Gatewood of Mesquite, W.T. (Buddy) Gatewood of Houston, Kenneth Gatewood of Blackfoot and James Gatewood of Palestine; sisters, Marcella Smith and Shirley Roberts of Houston, Fern Haynes of Palestine and Maysel Elliott of California; and former wife, Marie Miller of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Eubanks, Mac Douglas, Gary Branch, Mike Cubstead, Danny Walker, Jerry Bennett, Wayne Harrison and David Warren.

Condolence calls will be received from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
