Services for Brenda “Kay” Ferrell Carnes, 64, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Bailey and Foster Chapel with Dr. Steve Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Muse Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carnes died Sunday after battling a long illness. She was born April 10, 1944 in Palestine to Clarence and Eunice Ferrell. Mrs. Carnes was a member of Marinatha Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She had retired from Palestine Independent School District after 27 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenfred Carnes; and her parents.
Mrs. Carnes is survived by her daughter, Tana Herring and husband Greg of Elkhart; son, Mark Carnes and wife Melissa of Conroe; five grandchildren, Clint Herring and wife Nicole, Kayla Herring, Taylor Carnes, Corbin Carnes and Ty Carnes; as well as two great-grandchildren, Claire and Kay Herring; sisters, Glynda Tyer and husband John, Dale Bethke and husband Jimmy; and brother, Carol Wayne Ferrell and wife, Linda.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Clint Herring and Taylor Carnes; nephews, Randy and Kevin Tyer; and brothers-in-law, John Tyer and Jimmy Bethke.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home.
