Clarence Franklin Brooks, 64, of Powderly passed away Friday, September 28, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Powderly Church of God with the Rev. Demp Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

He was born November 25, 1942 in Anderson County, Texas a son of Ernest A. and Hester Johnson Brooks.

He graduated from Palestine High School. He married Laura Shannon in Las Vegas, Nev. on December 11, 2004. He was a truck driver for Kimberly Clark from 1987 until 1995 and then was self employed as an Alfalfa Hay Broker. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Shannon Brooks; daughter Tammy Russell and husband, Mel of Lake Conroe, Texas, two grandsons; sisters, Joy B. Tippen and Doris B. Selman of Palestine; and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Brooks, Ernest A. Brooks Jr., Huey James Brooks; and a sister, Ettalue B. Ritchey.

Pallbearers will be Garland Fendley, Sr., Don Roy Pickering, Jimmy Chapman, Talma Norwood, Donald Farmer, and Charles Westbrooks and Robert Duncan as honorary pallbearer.
