Services for Ronnie Lynn “Ron” Jones, 53, of Houston, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. Lester Collins and Lynn Stroud officiating. Burial will be at Strong Memorial Park.

Mr. Jones died Friday, January 19, 1996, at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston.  He was born in Palestine on July 30, 1943. He was a 1960 graduate of Palestine High School and a 1964 graduate of Sam Houston State University.

Mr. Jones served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked as a correctional officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Willard Jones on July 2, 1983.

He is survived by his parents, Willard and Loye Johnston Jones of Palestine; sons, Ronnie L. Jones, Jr. and Andrew Jones, both of Houston; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Barry W. James, Chuck Jones, Paul Pogue, Major Brittinghan, Virgil Williams, Joe W. Chaffin and Charles R. Crawford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Boy Scouts of America.
