Trinidad — Requiem mass for the happy repose of the soul of Charles W. “Charlie” Colman Sr., 63, of Trinidad, will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mary Queen of Heavens Catholic Church in Malakoff with Father Anthony McLaughlin as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Trinidad Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.

Charlie passed away Tuesday, February 28 in Corsicana.

He was born September 2, 1942, in Palestine, Texas, to the late Walter James and Gladys Irene Yoder Colman.

Charlie worked for many years at various power plants facilities including the Trinidad Power Plant and Big Brown Power Plant. He also spent many years with Nipak.

Charlie was a very generous and giving person. He was an all-around great humanitarian. He was a member of the Trinidad Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years and president of the Old Mine Park for many years. He was a big pet lover, an avid gardener, and had a passion for coaching Little League baseball. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He loved to be called “Grandpa.” He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and knew him.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. Colman Jr. and wife Lisa of Trinidad, Tech Sergeant Michael David Colman of Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma; Daniel Christopher Colman and wife Tonya of Grand Prairie; daughter and son-in-law, Tracie A. Finn and husband Robert of Tyler; grandchildren, Danielle, Gabrielle, Charles III, Matthew, Evan, Andrew; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Dudley McKamie of Whitehouse, Jeanne Rozelle of Chapel Hill, Kay and Fred Bates of Bullard, Anne and Steve Sagar of Corinth; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be A.C. Mormon, Troy Allen, Billy Stephens, Billy Mason, Dr. John Sawtelle and Richard Colvn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Airheart, Mike Airheart, Eric Airheart, Shong Airheart, Earnest Jenkins, Andy Griffin, Phillip Street, Billy Ray Hornbuckle, Skip Wagers and all of his co-workers and his fellow firefighters.

A prayer service is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at the funeral home with visitation to follow from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
