Ralph Irvine 1944

Services for Palestine native Ralph H. Irvine Jr., 62, of Huntsville, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville with the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Huntsville under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.

Mr. Irvine died Monday, September 28, 1988, in Huntsville.  He was born in Palestine on August 19, 1926, a son of Ralph and Inez Aber Irvine Sr.

He was employed by the Huntsville Independent School District for many years. He was in special services for one year, taught math for three years and was assistant principal for 12 years.

He entered the Air Force in February 1945, serving for 22 years, reaching the rank of major. His main assignment included Strategic Air Command staff officer, missile crew commander and electronic warfare officer. He retired from the Air Force in 1969, and received numerous medals.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Irvine of Huntsville; daughters, Carol Baxter of Conroe, Susan Bright of Houston, and Julie Ann Irvine of Huntsville; and two granddaughters.
