Services for Louise Herrington, 79, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Dornbush and the Rev. Lloyd Giles officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Herrington died Saturday morning at the Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born Nov. 26, 1925, in Birmingham, Ala. to Bill and Minnie Smith Headrick.
Mrs. Herrington lived in Palestine most of her life and had worked as a young lady at Duke & Ayers Department Store, the Coca-Cola Company and the county courthouse. Mrs. Herrington also managed a dental office and was a realtor for 30 years. Her life was her boys and family.
She was an active member of the Dogwood Squares, Rose City Rounders, the Rummy Royal Group, the Red Hatter’s Club, the Harvey Women’s Club and the Newcomers Club. Mrs. Herrington was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack Herrington of Palestine; four sons, Dr. Lee Herrington, Dr. Jay and wife Jean Herrington, Jeff and wife Joyie Herrington, and Drs. Jim and wife Carol Herrington, all of Palestine; half brother, Billy Headrick of LaPorte; and four grandchildren, Steve, Savannah, Brent and Edward Herrington.
Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Phillips, Joe Crutcher, Jack O’Connor III, Ridge Larson, Dr. Don Carroll, Dr. Bob McFarlane, Dr. Charles Nichols, Clifford Bassett, Walter Duff, Sandy Starkey, Kenneth Keene and the Rummy Royal Group.
The family will receive condolences from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
