Services for Clara McDonald Lane, 84, of Palestine will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Lane passed away peacefully Sunday at the David Foster Hospice Center in Palestine. She was born on December 5, 1925 in Buffalo, Texas to Fannie Mae Glenn McDonald and Dr. John W. McDonald.

Mrs. Lane graduated from Palestine High School in 1943. She was Senior Class President of her graduating class. She went on to graduate from Nixon’s Business College. She met Ernest Lane and they were married in 1946 for 63 years. They were co-owners and operators of the City Shoe Shop in Palestine for over 60 years. Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her husband who died in 2009.

She is survived by a daughter Marylyn Lane DeFilippo and husband John of Houston; son Robert Lane and wife Sandra of Palestine; grandchildren: Melanie Lane Dulworth and husband Paul, Scott Lane and wife Emily, Anthony DeFilippo and wife Laura, Christina DeFilippo Mack and husband Peter, and David DeFilippo; and three great-grandchildren : Max Andrew Dulworth, Lucas DeFilippo and Ashley DeFilippo.

Pallbearers will be Scott Lane, David DeFilippo, Paul Dulworth, Arthur Glenn, Jack Herod and Paul Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony DeFilippo,Dr. Peter Mack, Capt. David DeFilippo, Dr. Leroy Mathis, Tommy Glenn, Duane Raines, Proctor Moore and Judge Bascom Bentley.

Condolence calls will be received Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to JoAnn Brookings, Patsy Morrison, Sylvia Hawkins, Fay Mosley, Vernice Dickson and those who lovingly cared for her.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Palestine High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
