Services for former Palestine Chief of Police Hunter Williams, 71 of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Cover and Rev. Jack Cox officiating.  Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Thursday at Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Palestine on January 1, 1924 to Paul Max and Henrietta Spencer Williams, Sr.  He was a longtime member of the Paletine Police Department and former Chief of Police.

Mr. Williams was a member of First Presbyterian Church.  During World War II and the Korean War, he served in the Army.  Mr. Williams received the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Cox Williams of Palestine; daughters, Gail Rodriquez of Palestine, Cynthia Skinner of Baytown, Sharon Armstrong of Huntsville and Tina Saucier of Deer Park; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the Palestine Police Department Honor Guard.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Classof First Presbyterian Church and friends in law enforcement.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
