Funeral services for Katherine Elliott Davis, 85, of Palestine will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Hay officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.

Katherine Elliott Davis passed from this world at 11 a.m. on September 14, 2010 at Palestine Regional Medical Center following a prolonged illness.

She was born January 14, 1925 to Paul Eustice and Wilmuth Breede Elliott. She was raised in Palestine and graduated from Palestine High School in May 1942. She also graduated from Nixon Business College and became a comptometer operator for The Missouri Pacific Railroad.

She married the love of her life L.L. (Johnny) Davis, Dec. 28, 1945 while he was on leave from the U.S. Marine Corp. After Johnny completed college they moved to Port Arthur, Texas where Katherine worked as a bookkeeper for Port Arthur Transit Company. After moving back to Palestine in 1961, she became a bookkeeper for Webb Bratz Tire Company. Later Katherine worked as an educational aide for PISD until her retirement in 1986 and became a full time housewife.

Katherine leaves behind to cherish her memory, Husband Johnny Davis; two children, Suzanne Hanks and husband Jim, Len Davis and wife Mona; three grandchildren, John Schoel, Katy Johnson and Lauren Davis. Katherine had four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul E. Elliott and A.B. Elliott. She is survived by her brother Jack Elliott.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Elliott, Lee Johnson, John Schoel, Leo Mizell, Jerry Mayo, Bob Stephenson, Harold Gilbert and Dr. Barry James. Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Dressell.
