Services for Mrs. Fred (Pattie) Roquemore, of Houston, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Palestine with the Rev. Wayne Rhodes and Dr. Weldon Morton officiating. Mrs. Roquemore’s niece, Martha Whitaker Nicholson, of Madison, WI. will give the obituary and benediction. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Roquemore died Tuesday in the New Age Hospice in Houston.
She was the youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Ellis Smith of Palestine. She was born December 28, 1922, and lived in Palestine until her marriage to Fred O. Roquemore when the two moved to Henderson, Tyler, and then Houston. Mrs. Roquemore was a lifelong Methodist. At the time of death, she was a member of Southwest United Methodist Church in Houston.
Mrs. Roquemore graduated from Palestine High in 1940, attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO., and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a teacher’s aide at Lovett Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District, and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Fred O. Roquemore of Houston; children, Mrs. George McClune of Plano, and Fred O. Roquemore, Jr. and David Howard Roquemore, both of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Carlyn D. Whitaker of Palestine; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Preston, and nephews A.L. Roquemore, III, Mark Roquemore, Frank Roquemore Jr., Larry Roquemore, Matthew Roquemore and D.G. Whitaker.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and to the New Age Hospice, 6205 Almeda Street, Houston, Texas, 77021.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
