Services for Nathan G. Boyd, 63 of Palestine will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Revs. Charles Bretz and Jack DuPree officiating. Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd was born in Palestine on July 27, 1922, son of William Earnest and Mable Morris Boyd. He died Thursday at Anderson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was a 1940 graduate of Palestine High School and a member of the First Christian Church. He served in the Air Force during World War II, seeing overseas duty in both England and Germany.

After leaving the service, Mr.Boyd worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1982 after 36 years in the freight claims department. He owned and operated Stor-Mor mini-storage in Palestine.

Survivors include his wife, Gerry Reed Boyd; daughters, Natha Patricia Boyd and Mrs. Steve (Cindi) Presley, both of Palestine; two grandchildren; sister, Duvergn Henderson of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be James Calloway, Jimmy Cheatham, Spence Carnathan, Forrest Bradberry, Luke Thornton, Virgil Perry, Billy Shelton and Dr. John Presley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research, 1315 Calhoun, Suite 1818, Houston, Texas 77002 or to the memorial of choice.
