Funeral services for J.B. Bernard, 60, of 406 San Diego St., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home chapel, with Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mr. Bernard died this morning in Anderson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 26, 1922, in the Bois D’arc community in Anderson County, the son of John Birrel and Maude Salome Gray Bernard. He and Margie Virginia Roy were married March 18, 1941 in Palestine. A resident of Palestine most of his life, he was a member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ and was employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad as a Car Maintenance Foreman. He served in the Army during World War II.
His parents and a sister, Willie Nadine Boatwright, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Bernard of Palestine; a son, Michael Bernard and wife Mary of Bedford; a daughter, Mrs. Paula Trigg and husband Dan of Fairfield; a sister, Mrs. Dixie Copeland and husband Ken of Amelia , La.; and five grandchildren, Kelly, Amy and Shannon Bernard of Bedford, and Kathryn and Julie Trigg of Fairfield.
Pallbearers will be Bill Douglas, J. Robert Wylie, Lee Reinhard, James Mosley, Ira Goodin and Harold Quick.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
