Services for Bernice Thorpe Petty, 70, of Pasadena, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Addition Annex with the Rev. Mark Cook officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Petty died Thursday in Humana Hospital in Pasadena.

A native of Palestine, she was born May 21, 1920, to Harry L. Thorpe Sr. and Leola Worley Thorpe Price.

She was a former member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Palestine and a longtime Palestine resident.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jimmy C. (Joy Lee) Higham of Pasadena; sisters, Cleola Nemer of Palestine and Querida Nichols of Texas City; a brother, Harry L. Thorpe Jr. of the Springfield Community; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Durant Petty on Feb. 7, 1977.
