Services for Margaret Sutton Read, 82, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Palestine City Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating.  Arrangemets are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Read died Tuesday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.  She was born August 20, 1920, in Palestine to Huey James and Sarah Lucile Johnson Sutton.  Mrs. Read was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Weldon Read; son, Ray W. Read Jr.; sister, Rachel Saxton; and brother Miles C. Sutton.

Mrs. Read is survived by grandson, Shawn Read of Arlington; sister, Lucile Boyd of Palestine; and sister-in-law, Joye Sutton of Palestine; and locally by nieces, Martha Davis, Ann Royall Maffitt and Lecil Peery, all of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Tucker Boyd Royall, Charles C. Davis Jr., Rhodes Baker III, Stephen Sutton, James E. Saxton, Mike Peery and Ted Maffitt.
