Howard Kolstad Hanks, age 85, passed from this life July 15, 2004 after a lengthy illness.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde W. Hanks, Jr., her sons Peter K. Thornton and Gardner S. Thornton, her stepchildren Mary Sue Reuther and Kit Stuart, thirteen grand children and six great grand children and her brother, Peter A. Kolstad and family.

She was an avid conchologist, active in Kappa Kappa Gamma and a bridge player for most of her life.

A private service is being held in Palestine, Texas where she was born. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
