Services for Charles Parsons Speegle, 81, of Richardson and formerly of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. David Luckert officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine City Cemetery.
Mr. Speegle died Sunday in Richardson.
He was born November 17, 1917 in Palestine to Dr. Andrew Arthur and Olive Gertrude Leet Speegle.
Mr. Speegle was a sales representative for B&B Chemical. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. As a captain, he flew 50 missions for the 320th Bomb Group of the 442nd Bomber Squadron. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Flying Cross and EAME Theater Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richardson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Janette Perry in 1999.; and a brother, Alexander “Doc” Speegle in 1982.
Mr. Speegle is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Janette Rogers Speegle of Richardson; daughters, Una Jane Carpenter of Dallas and Olive Miller Snapp of Austin; a sister, Mary Locke of Houston; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mary Jane Foster, John Carpenter, Richard Carpenter, Donovan Miller Jr., Dawn Miller Jabour, Kristina Perry, and Arthur Speegle III.
Honorary pallbearers are Samantha Jabour and Hunter Foster
