Services for Ed Montgomery, 72, of Palestine, will be at 4 p.m. today in Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Edward Eugene Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in New Addition Annex under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Montgomery died Sunday in Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 15, 1917, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of the late Robert E. Montgomery and Jennie Jordan Montgomery. He was a graduate of Palestine High School, a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Montgomery was a petroleum independent landman and owner and operator of the former Meador-Montgomery Sporting Goods Store in Palestine.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Dorothy Meador Montgomery of Palestine; a daughter, Martha Meador Montgomery of Austin; a son, Edward Meador “Pete” Montgomery of San Leon; and a brother, W.C. “Pete” Montgomery of Austin.
