Services for James Leslie Peeler, 83, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Rev. Ron Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine City Cemetery.
Mr. Peeler died Tuesday (October 12, 1999) at Trinity Valley Medical Center in Palestine.
He was born February 3, 1916, in Greenfield, Ark., to James Edward and Agnes Mary Hanks Peeler.
Mr. Peeler was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the North Jackson Baptist Church, where he served many years as church secretary. He was a member of the Lake Frankston Fishing Club.
Mr. Peeler is survived by his wife, Dora Sue Peeler of Palestine; son, Gary B. Peeler of Washington State; daughter, Susan Abbott of Longview; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Glenn, David Brock, Marvin Crain, Len Howard, Don Watts, Tommy Caskey, Alex Nemer,, and Daniel Glenn.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.L. Parkman, C.B. Oliver, Starling Kiser, Henry Brown, L.A. Bomer, and S.F. Kennedy.
