Funeral services for Ruth Ritchey, 91, of Van Buren, Ark., will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Palestine, Texas, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Miss Ritchey died Saturday in a nursing home.
She was a Methodist, an alumnae of Texas Women’s University, a member of the Women’s Bowling Association and a member of the Alpha chapter of Delta Gamm Kapp. She was a library consultant in Texas, and taught in the Palestine schools for a number of years.
Miss Ritchey was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas C. and Sudie L. Baird Ritchey.
She is survived by her beloved niece, Terry Palmer and husband Dan of Van Buren; her great-nieces, Laura Ryan and Gina Kiser; her special great-great-niece, Ashley Palmer; several members of Dan’s family; two nephews, Craig Palmer and fiancée Kari and Brad Palmer and wife Nicole; and two sisters, May Delle Hubner of Beaumont, Texas, and Marguerite Winkelman of Union City, Calif.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren, Ark.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Arkansas Chapter, 320 N. Greenwood Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72904.
