Services for O.M. Jenkins, 82, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gregory Megill officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Jenkins died this moring at Cartmell Home for the Aged. He was born August 15, 1916, in Palestine, to Ozment Milton Jenkins Sr. and Mary Lou White Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins was the co-founder of Palestine Contractors. He was a life-long member of First Methodist Church, a past director of East Texas National Bank and a member of the Palestine Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Mae Jenkins; and brother, Jim Henry Taylor.
Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife, Betty Jenkins of Palestine; daughters, Linda Swinney of Palestine, and Kay Callender of Katy; sons, Phil Jenkins and Steve Jenkins, both of Palestine; sister, Eva Jane Weisinger of Devine; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Swinney, John Callender, Kyle Callender, David Griffin, Parris Kitt, Jeb Howard, and Robert Moseley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Herrell, L.L. Davis, James G. Crook, Warren Emerson, Clifford Bassett and David Dial.
