Services for Maurice Rosson, 90, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tom Loden and Chris Kenner officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Rosson died Saturday at his residence.
He was born April 22, 1914 in Palestine to Carl Rosson and Ruby Kalb Rosson.
Mr. Rosson was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was past president of the Palestine Lions Club, member of Trinity Valley Community College Board, and past president of Palestine ISD Board. He was a former recipient of Builder of Palestine award. He received status of Captain in the Texas National Guard Reserves. Before retiring, he owned and operated Flournoy’s Furniture Company for many years.
Mr. Rosson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eleanor Virginia Rosson, who died in 1998; daughter, Nancy Stewart, who died in 2001; sister, Gladys Schupbach; and three brothers, Delton, Clarence and Darwin Rosson.
He is survived by daughter, Jimmye Patterson of Palestine; five grandchildren, Gina Atkinson, Stewart Hoover and husband Chris, Bob Stewart and wife Mary, Jeffrey Patterson, Jim Bob Patterson and wife Regina; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Hoover, Channing Hoover, Reece Stewart and Allie Stewart; several nieces and nephews and special friends Juana and April Aguilera.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Stewart, Jim Bob Patterson, Jeffrey Patterson, Cliff Patterson, Jess Hudson and Michael Rosson. Honorary pallbearers will be Herschel’s Old Time Coffee Club: Jerry Pat Frances, A. J. Hudson, Luckett Kolstad, Glen Woods, Kevin Taylor, Chris Hoover; and members of the Men’s Bible Class of the First Presbyterian Church.
