Services for Jean Dilley Knowles of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. W.S. Blanton and Dr. Jeff Cover officiating. Burial will be in New Addition Cemetery under direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Knowles died Wednesday (April 26, 1995) at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born February 4, 1915 in Palestine to Clarence V. and Sammie Belle Dilley.
She was a lifetime resident of Palestine and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Knowles attended Randolph Macon College in Virginia and was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
She was a founding member of the Meleterion Study Club of Palestine and was active in many civic and philanthropic organizations.
She is survived by her husband, W.M. Knowles of Palestine; sons, Bill Knowles of Palestine, and Dr. David Knowles; and four grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Bill Knowles, David Knowles, Drew S. Wommack, Thomas C. Wommack, Mitchell C. Wommack, Tom Broyles, Barrett Broyles, Henry Davenport, and William B. Campbell.
