Memorial services for Gladys Shelton Griffith, 94, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Palestine with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating.

Graveside services will be held prior at 10 a.m. at New Addition Cemetery under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home of Seguin.

Mrs. Griffith died Thursday at Guadalupe Valley Nursing Center in Seguin.

She was born August 12, 1913, in Tennessee Colony to Emmett H. and Irma Seagler Shelton.

Mrs. Griffith was a member of First Baptist Church of Palestine where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 70 years. She also worked as a classified ads editor and proofreader for the Palestine Herald-Press for 23 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William LeRoy Griffith; and daughter, Patricia Ann Griffith Crabtree.

Mrs. Griffith is survived by daughter, Dianne Griffith Mangum and husband Kenneth Jackson Mangum of Seguin; son-in-law, Frederick Putnam Crabtree and wife Melissa of San Diego, Calif., Todd P. Crabtree and wife Denise of Montgomery, Kent W. Crabtree and wife Bao of League City; Sgt. Kyle G. Mangum of Dayton, Ohio; and granddaughter, Melanie K. Mangum Thornton and husband Seth of Houston; two sisters, June Shelton Hodges of Duncanville and Carol Joyce Hardgrave and husband Thomas Melvin Hardgrave of San Antonio; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
