Services for Tom Dunbar, 92, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Dunbar died Saturday at Greenbrier Nursing Home.
He was born October 23, 1911 in Big Spring, Texas to Thomas Arthur and Susie Strickland Dunbar.
Mr. Dunbar was a member of Crockett Road Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 50 years. He graduated from Palestine High School and attended Rice University on a football scholarship. He retired after 30 years as a U.S. Postal carrier
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Patricia Dunbar, in 1958.
Mr. Dunbar is survived by his wife, Gladys Lawhorn Dunbar of Palestine; son, Tad Dunbar of Reno, Nev.; and sister, Mildred Dotson of Round Rock. He is also survived by close relatives, Janet and Jenna Prince of Palestine and other cousins in the Palestine area.
Pallbearers will be Dale Sparks, Don Bell, Bob Stech, Donnie Fincher, Scott Johnson and Lee Prince.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
