Funeral services for Ola Belle Broughton, 96, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home. Mrs. Broughton died Sunday, July 11, 2009, at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 9, 1913, in Tennessee Colony to Albert and Ida Anding Clark.

Mrs. Broughton had lived here all her life and was a charter member and Sunday School teacher at Southside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Southview Women’s Club, and Palestine Garden Club. She was active in the P.T.A. at both Palestine and Elkhart schools for many years. Mrs. Broughton was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and one son, Roy Broughton.

Mrs. Broughton is survived by her husband of 78 years, W.L. Broughton; son, Davy Broughton and wife Beverly; daughter, Beverly Lively and husband Don; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Broughton; sisters, Marie Jones, and Juanita Wilken; eight grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” Broughton, Brandi Loyd, Lisa McCllough, Wayne Lively, Sandra Morris, Robert Lively, Hunter Broughton, and Cliff Broughton; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and best fur friend, Bo.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Broughton, Cliff Broughton, Chuck Broughton, Zach Morris, Benjamin Broughton, and Garrett Broughton. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandsons, and nephews.

Condolence calls will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
